Omega 2848-1 Seamaster Sub-Second - Champagne Dial

We are proud to offer this beautiful Omega Seamaster Automatic reference 2848-1 from approximately 1955, a wonderfully preserved example from the early years of the iconic Seamaster collection. Featuring a warm champagne gold dial, elegant sub-seconds display and gold-plated case, this watch perfectly captures the refined character of 1950s Omega design.

The watch is presented in very nice overall vintage condition, especially considering its age of more than 70 years. The gold-plated case remains beautifully preserved, with the plating still presenting very well throughout. Naturally, some light signs of wear are visible, entirely consistent with the age and history of the watch.

A particularly attractive feature of this example is its original warm champagne gold dial, which has developed a beautiful and subtle vintage character over the decades. The applied gold-tone hour markers, Arabic numerals at 3, 9 and 12, elegant gold tone dauphine hands and recessed sub-seconds register at 6 o'clock create a wonderfully balanced and unmistakably 1950s appearance.

Powering the watch is the Omega Calibre 491 automatic movement, with movement serial number 14,666,238, dating the watch to approximately 1955. This early full rotor automatic movement is characteristic of Omega's mid 1950s generation of Seamaster watches and adds significantly to the vintage appeal of the piece.

Originality is another strong point of this example. In addition to its original Omega dial, the watch retains its original Omega signed crown, correct caseback and original Omega crystal. It is fitted to an Omega signed leather strap with Omega signed buckle, completing the classic and highly coherent presentation.
