FOR SALE – ROLEX DATEJUST REF. 16013 BLUE “BOILER GAUGE” DIAL – 1984
We are proud to offer this particularly attractive and rare Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust reference 16013 from 1984, featuring its distinctive original dark blue “Boiler Gauge” dial, 18k yellow gold fluted bezel and classic two-tone Jubilee bracelet. A beautiful vintage Datejust in one of the more unusual dial configurations of the reference.
The main highlight is undoubtedly the original blue Boiler Gauge dial. This distinctive dial design takes its nickname from the railway style minute track running around the centre of the dial, reminiscent of the gauges found on old industrial boilers. Combined with the unusual applied Arabic numerals and dark blue background, it gives the Datejust a completely different appearance from the more commonly seen champagne, silver and standard baton dial configurations. The dark blue version is particularly uncommon, making this an interesting configuration for the collector looking for something different.
The dial is complemented by an 18k yellow gold fluted bezel and crown, together with the two-tone Rolex Jubilee bracelet featuring 18k yellow gold centre links. The bracelet remains in nice condition for its age with relatively little stretch and retains a generous length.
Another attractive detail is the period correct bracelet configuration. The clasp is stamped 62523H.18 with I11 date code, corresponding to 1984 and therefore matching the production period of the watch. This creates a nicely consistent overall configuration.
Inside is the well-known Rolex calibre 3035 automatic movement, featuring the convenient quickset date function. The watch is functioning properly. The watch remains in great overall vintage condition, showing normal signs of wear appropriate for a watch of this age.
